Books For You

If you would like interesting books to read, here's the place to find some! I have read all the books on this page. Some of the books have either sequels, or an entire series. This list will hopefully grow over time.

  • Starters by Lissa Price
In the future, teens rent their bodies to seniors who want to be young again. One girl discovers her renter plans to do more than party--her body will commit murder, if her mind can't stop it. Sixteen-year-old Callie lost her parents when the genocide spore wiped out everyone except those who were vaccinated first--the very young and very old. With no grandparents to claim Callie and her little brother, they go on the run, living as squatters, and fighting off unclaimed renegades who would kill for a cookie. Hope comes via Prime Destinations, run by a mysterious figure known only as The Old Man. He hires teens to rent their bodies to seniors, known as enders, who get to be young again. Callie's neurochip malfunctions and she wakes up in the life of her rich renter, living in her mansion, driving her cars, even dating Blake, the grandson of a senator. It's a fairy-tale new life . . . until she uncovers the Body Bank's horrible plan. . . .

My Quick Review: This is a great book. It had me on the edge of my seat. The topic itself was a very smart idea, and I hope to see more from the author. There is a sequel that completed the duo very well. I highly recommend it.

  • Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
A mysterious island.

An abandoned orphanage.

A strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

My Quick Review: The book was amazing. Jacob Portman is a very relatable character. The photographs made the book even better. There is a sequel, and the third book is scheduled to come out in fall of this year, which I am very excited for. A movie is also scheduled to come out in 2016.

  • Shatter Me
I have a curse.
I have a gift.
I'm a monster.
I'm more than human.
My touch is lethal.
My touch is power.
I am their weapon.I will fight back.

No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal, but The Reestablishment has plans for her. Plans to use her as a weapon. But Juliette has plans of her own. After a lifetime without freedom, she's finally discovering a strength to fight back for the very first time—and to find a future with the one boy she thought she'd lost forever.
My Quick Review: I absolutely LOVED this book. I'm a sucker for romance, and the entire series gave me just that. I also love suspense, and I was shaking at times of how suspenseful it was. There are three books and two novellas in the series.
